Our company has the scope to undertake construction, earthwork and general contracting projects across the Nelson / Tasman region. We provide a range of services including entranceways, fence posting, land drainage, trenching and subdivision development.
Subdivision Development
Our machines use GPS to deliver high quality construction methods on the subdivision projects we undertake. Our team can complete all earthworks, underground services, sewer and stormwater installation and roading components of your subdivision. We work with Nelson City Council, Tasman District Council and skilled, quality focused sub contractors.
Earthworks
Our machines and attachments are fully enabled to undertake your earthwork projects including culvert installation, dam construction, house site preparation, driveway construction, bulk earthmoving and demolition.
Land Drainage
C&J has over 60 years experience installing drainage and trenching in the Nelson region. Our new Ditchwitch RT80 is capable of trenching up to 280mm wide and 1500mm deep. The 5700 can plough orchard solenoid, phone cables and water pipe up to 32mm in diameter in to ther ground without trenching. Contact us for a quote.
Post Driving
Save time and your back, our pneumatic “rattle heads” can drive fence posts, hop poles, orchard posts and house piles. Variable ground conditions across the district make this work challenging however we have spikes and augers available to pre-drill holes as needed.
Driveways
Town or country, residential, industrial or rural, sealed or gravel, our team can install, shape and finish your driveway to your needs.

Entranceways
We specialise in the construction of driveway entrances. We can advise clients about permit applications, culvert pipe options and surfacing. Our team can provide traffic management, undertake construction and prepare for sealing and finishing.
Tree Removal
There are many attachments in our yard to mulch, snap or pull out trees and dig out roots. We can undertake controlled burning of greenwaste material onsite.
Cartage
The C&J truck fleet can cart anything from gravel to hay bales to fertilizer etc. Our lowbed transport unit and transporter truck are available to shift machines and equipment across the top of the south.
